Winter Wonder on the World Heritage Listed Budj Bim Cultural Landscape - VIC

Budj Bim, Victoria - Budj Bim Cultural Landscape Tourism is excited to announce a special winter promotion, offering 20% off on all Gunditjmara cultural tours for a limited time. This exclusive discount is available to visitors who wish to explore the rich cultural heritage of the UNESCO World Heritage listed Budj Bim Cultural Landscape during the cooler months.

Over a period of at least 6,600 years, the Gunditjmara utilised the abundant local volcanic rock to construct channels, weirs and dams and manage water flows in order to systematically trap, store and harvest kooyang (short-finned eel - Anguilla australis) and support enhancement of other food resources. Travellers looking for a unique and enriching experience will see an ancient and complex aquaculture system engineered by the region’s Traditional Owners in a feat unequalled anywhere in the world.

Tour Highlights Include:

  • Tae Rak (Lake Condah) Cultural Walk: A 2-hour guided tour immersing visitors in the serene beauty of the area’s unique wetlands while learning about the local ecology and Aboriginal heritage.
  • Tungatt Mirring (Stone Country): A half day exploring the rugged landscapes and volcanic formations which reveals the geological and cultural significance of the ancient landscape.
  • Kooyang Yana (Kooyang Walk): A full day of cultural discovery which includes an extensive look at Gunditjmara historical sites, traditional fishing techniques, and a lunch packed with Indigenous flavours.

Budj Bim Cultural Landscape Tourism is dedicated to providing authentic cultural experiences, guided by knowledgeable local guides who share their insights into the history and traditions of the Gunditjmara People. This 20% off promotion offers a perfect opportunity for both domestic and international travellers to learn about the area’s unique Indigenous culture while enjoying the natural beauty of the Budj Bim Cultural Landscape at a discounted price.
