DESCRIPTION

We offer specialised Educational Programs suitable for both local and international students, with programs focusing on the abundant natural assets in and around the World Heritage listed Budj Bim Cultural Landscape.

Programs are tailored to suit your year group or class, and combine curriculum relevant content including;

  • Indigenous studies
  • Language
  • Geography / Geology
  • History
  • Science
  • SOSE

Each program is escorted by a Gunditjmara cultural guide, and covers the rich Aboriginal heritage of the area and the Gunditjmara people's interaction with this very special place.

Choose from:

  • 2 Hour Cultural Walk
  • Half Day Cultral Program (4 horus)
  • Full Day Cultural Program (4~8 HOURS)

Sites covered can include:

  • Budj Bim National Park - Budj Bim volcano, Lake Surprise, lava tunnels, cave, forest
  • Tae Rak (Lake Condah) - lava flows, marine and bird life.
  • Kurtonitj - stone eel traps, stone channels, stone house sites and eel smoking trees
  • Tyrandarra Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) - traditional meeting place, ceremonial site and camping area for the Gunditjmara people.

All programs start and finish at the Lake Condah (Tae Rak) Aquaculture Centre & Cafe.

Fee Includes:

Gunditjmara Aboriginal guide, activities and access fees.

Student workbooks can be prepared with prior notice.

Did you know?

Tae Rak is estimted to have been formed about 8,000 years ago as a result of the basalt flow impounding the flow of the Darlot Creek and Condah Swamp outfall.
